Timber can be key to sustainable build. It has a life span that can be extended through re-use and recycling; there is no other commonly-used building material that requires so little energy to produce. Dunscar Timber is committed to sourcing all timber and timber products from legal sources. We require clear evidence of good forest management practice at the original source, and give preference to those suppliers who can provide such evidence.
Dunscar Timber acknowledge the importance of auditable, independent certification throughout the supply chain process and have introduced relevant schemes where appropriate to the business. We are firmly committed to a stepped approach, through the risk assessment of products - by species, by country and by supplier - to the sourcing of timber from legal and certified sources. This includes the elimination of wood originating from non-certified High Conservation Value Forests, including those species recognized as endangered, using references including the IUCN Red List, and from inappropriately-cleared or converted forests.
To achieve this we’ve been working with the leading timber certification scheme – PEFC. The PEFC logo and labels are globally trusted trademarks. The PEFC ‘green trees’ logo is your assurance that wood-based products – from timber to furniture, packaging to paper – come from sustainable sources.
